The Endbringer's Thoughts WM15/Raw/Nitro Review, and WCW Announcers

Issue 17: WM15/Raw/Nitro Review and Power Struggle Between WCW Announcers

Hey everybody! Back for another column.......this will be a good one.

First off, Wrestlemania. As a PPV, it was very good. As a Wrestlemania PPV however, it didn't live up to previous Manias. The match order looked like it had been done by a 3-year-old (Mankind vs. Paul Wight THAT early? Er?) and the supporting matches weren't that great (Holly winning and no Outlaws switch pissed me off), but otherwise it was a good PPV. Nicole Bass and HHH/Chyna in the Corporation were nice surprises, and the Taker and Austin wins had nice endings even though the outcomes were obvious. Would've liked to have seen more HBK and Jim Ross, (adding him in the main event was a nice touch) and Test didn't make sense in the tag match since no feud came from it on Raw so far. Overall though, it was a nice PPV.

Now, fast forward a night to Raw and Nitro. Everyone knew Raw would blow Nitro away coming off their biggest PPV of the year, but Nitro really put out a good show. I'm a Bret Hart fan, and his "I Quit" thing was just a classic. Whether it is a work or not doesn't really matter, The Hitman finally was thrown into the main event mix for the first time in WCW. I for one am shocked at how well Hogan is over, but I enjoy it just as much as the next guy. He is really working well, and I am pleased to see the old Hulkamania return. Flair as president was actually pretty nice, he does it well, way better than Bischoff ever did, and getting personally involved with Hogan, DDP and Sting makes it more interesting, ie. he can wrestle them, whereas Bischoff would get killed.

Raw was a great show. Nice opening matches in the women's tag and Dr. Death/Holly (compared to Nitro, which had that damn Konnan video again and Konnan vs. Vince, ugh). It's nice to see The Rock, Paul Wight and Mankind (next week) facing mid-carders to help them get farther in the business, I like that. Shamrock/Gangrel and Roaddog/Goldust were good matches, compared to Wrath vs. Kenny Kaos (good lord) and way too many frickin' interviews. (and you say the WWF is losing its wrestling side?) The Jericho segment was hilarious, and the Hart segment was something else. Just amazing stuff from the Hitman, the Domi jersey and the steel plate was just awesome. He finally put that no-talent Goldberg in his place.

One thing has been really bugging me though. I don't know if you've noticed, but are Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan, and Mike Tenay trying to get each other fired or what? I watched all of Nitro for the first time in months because it was in my hometown of Toronto (on Tuesday however, TSN showed Raw instead of Nitro in Toronto, how bout that? There's a confidence booster for WCW) and I watched Thunder yesterday, and through both shows it was like Schiavone, Heenan and Tenay weren't on the same page. During matches and between matches they were arguing like they were 4-year-old toddlers. Arguing about who would call the replay of the match finis hor the hotline plugs, what is up with this? As if they weren't pathetic enough, now they have to waste our time listening to them argue about who would plug the hotline next? This is the most retarded thing they have ever done, and they'd better stop, because even hardcore WCW fans are going nuts. JUST SHUT THE HELL UP AND CALL THE GODDMAN MATCH! When something interesting happens, they ask each other who wants to say something about it. If they had a shred of professionalism in them left, they would know not to go there. I wonder if this stuff is legit, because if it's not it's very sad. Heenan and Zybisco just recently re-signed, so it's possible that Tenay and Schiavone are fighting for the last spot. Whatever the case, they make me sick, and if I were Eric Bischoff I'd get this straightened out quick (and I'd find another job, but that's beside the point).

That's the way I see the wrestling world right now. Until next time,

Rest in Peace,

The Endbringer
